Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of some of our most common queries. If you have a question that isn’t listed below give us a call on 1300 424 544 and we’ll fill you in.
Trial Lessons

We offer a no obligation trial lesson to all new players wishing to trial before committing, subject to capacities allowing this. If the trial is successful, you will be added to the remainder of the term and invoiced accordingly.

Programs

We provide a wide range of coaching programs.  Our coaches are fully qualified tennis coaching professionals trained to the highest level.  All of our coaches are required to attend regular staff training and professional development sessions.

What should I bring along?

Comfortable enclosed sports shoes, a hat, water bottle and racquet. If you don’t have your own racquet, we do have spares available to borrow.

The rules on tennis attire have been relaxed in recent years so “tennis-specific” attire is not necessary at our lessons.

How are groups determined?

After initially being enrolled in a class suitable for their age and skill level, students will be assessed by their coach and it may be suggested to move to a group that is more appropriate to their standard.

What is the class size ratio?

Class sizes vary depending on the program. Our HotShots programs have a maximum ratio of 1:4 for Hotshots Blue (age 4 -6) and 1:6 for all other HotShots programs.

Is my child ready for tennis lessons?

We provide a safe learning environment ensuring all players enrolled in group and private lessons have the extraordinary experience we aim to provide. If your child displays safe behavior to themselves and other players and is capable of learning, and allowing others to learn, we welcome them in our group programs.

Additionally, all players are expected to participate in their lessons without parent involvement. We understand that young players will need parent assistance from time to time but your child should be capable of completing majority of the lesson without parent assistance.

Feel free to contact our office if you have questions about whether your child is suitable for our coaching programs as we are happy to help and can discuss alternate options for players that don’t fit our criteria.

What happens if it rains or there is extreme heat?

Hot Shots programs will run a modified program indoors in the event that it is too hot, or heavy rain.

For Squad programs in the event of rain, we encourage players to wear wet weather gear and be prepared to still train if courts are deemed fit for practice.

In the event a parent or player deems the weather conditions to be too extreme for safe participation in any program where possible, we will allow the player to arrange a make-up session in the same or similar program at a later date, in the current term or a day in the upcoming holiday clinics.

Please email info@tennisexcellence.com.au to arrange a makeup session if you prefer not to participate due to extreme weather.

Other Makeups

Makeup lessons are permitted, please see our Terms & Conditions for full details.

Do you accept Kids in Sports Vouchers?
No. We have confirmed with the department of sport and recreation that Tennis Excellence is not eligible to participate in the scheme.
More questions?

You can speak with your coach at the conclusion of the lesson.  Or email the office team, who will be more than happy to help.
